How Look & Learn English (School Pool) Worksheets Work

in 4 Easy Steps

Step 1:

Fold & Focus (Visual & Sound Memory).

Fold the top strip along the dotted line so the spelling list is hidden. Using the sheet as a flashcard, guided by a teacher or parent, students listen to the spoken word and look at the visual image. This pairs auditory pronunciation directly with visual recognition to build initial memory.

Step 2:

Learn the Spelling (Written Memory).

Once the sound-image connection is established, students unfold the top strip to reveal the written words. They can now memorize the spelling alongside the visual—either immediately or in a subsequent lesson as a consolidation exercise.

Step 3:

Test & Write (No Peeking!)

Keep the top strip folded out of sight. Students test their recall by writing each word under its visual prompt purely from memory.

Step 4:

Self-Correction & Reward (Corrective Memory).

The teacher or parent reviews the work and marks correct spellings with a red tick. For any misspelled words, the student unfolds the top strip to hunt for their own mistakes and rewrite them correctly. By taking ownership of the fix, students activate corrective memory instead of ignoring adult edits. Once self-corrected, they earn a final green tick!
